HOW TO CLAIM

UNDERSTAND YOUR BENEFITS

Savings GAP Cover

Can be used once you have run out of your Scheme savings or if you have reached your day-to-day benefit sub-limit. We cover the shortfall for: GP visits, basic dentistry, basic radiology/pathology, prescription medication.

In-Hospital Treatment & Procedures

Can be used for all in-hospital treatment and procedures which are above the scheme payout and all specialists in-hospital that would have been covered by the scheme.

Cancer Co-Payment

Can be used for all cancer related claims once the Medical Scheme’s oncology threshold has been reached.

Casualty Accident/Illness

Can be used for a medical or surgical procedure following an emergency in the casualty unit of a hospital where the costs were not met by the Scheme. Assessment will be based on the Triage Scale.

Scans & Scopes (Specialised Radiology)

Can be used for diagnostic procedures authorised by your Scheme that are deemed necessary for treatment and diagnosis purposes performed in-hospital or a day clinic.

Post Pregnancy Cover

Can be used for any shortfalls that your scheme paid from your MSA for procedures such as pap smears, routine bloods, immunisation and IUDs.

Accidental HIV Infection & Treatment

Can be used for HIV testing and/or treatment after a positive diagnosis reported within 48 hours.

Accidental Death

Can be used in the event that any Insured Person under this policy dies due to an unforseen accident event. We will payout a lump sum cash amount in accordance with your benefit limit.

GAP Cover helps you to claim in the event of when you have exhausted your medical aid savings or encounter situations where your medical aid cover is insufficient, which means you can only get a GAP Cover policy if you have proof of an existing medical aid policy. You have the option to either get cover for yourself only, or for a family or only certain members of your family. You have the option to cover a family up to four on the Oneplan Core or Executive GAP Cover Plans.

Medical Aids are regulated by the Medical Schemes Act, Gap Cover is short-term insurance product which, together with your medical aid, provides top-up health cover up to certain limits. The purpose of cover is to provide additional financial protection to medical scheme members who receive in-hospital treatment and care so that they are not saddled with large out-of-pocket expenses following a hospital event.
